Marketing Manager

The Boulder County Fair is seeking a charismatic and creative Marketing Manager to create engaging, on-brand content across all digital channels, support on-site event needs, and coordinate public relations efforts through media partners and sponsors, enhancing our community connection. This role includes graphic design, social media management, & photo/video skills.

The ideal candidate would be excited to have a hybrid work environment, with the flexibility of in-office (on-site) or remote work 3 seasons a year, averaging 1-3 days in-office a week. As we gear towards summer events, this role requires more on-site days during summer months (June-August).

The Boulder County Fair is proud to be the oldest Fair in Colorado, with a rich history of celebrating agriculture, arts, entertainment, & family fun. The Marketing Manager should be well-versed in Events or Agricultural space, and current with graphic design and social media trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Capture engaging moments during the Fair and other events, creating compelling reels & highlights to showcase the experience.
  • Channel Ownership: Develop & implement content strategies for social media, website, email, and print channels to promote Fair activities and engage our community. Manage social media channels, including content posting, community engagement, & growth strategies.
  • Graphic Design/Creative Strategy: Create original graphic designs and visual content to support event marketing, signage, and branding. Write, edit, & distribute press releases and media updates.
  • Schedule: Generate social media content throughout the year to bring awareness to the Boulder County Fair, engaging with Sponsors, Royalty, community, local businesses, and volunteers.
  • Historical: Maintain archive of photos, videos, and graphics, and operate as our Lead Content Creator for live programs and events.
  • Training: Develop PR & media guidelines and standards for all platforms, lead a team of volunteers.
  • Track Metrics: Track & report on media engagement and campaign effectiveness.
  • Interviews/BTS: Capture Artist interviews, 4H & FFA interviews, Audience interviews, behind the scenes content, and event recaps for promotional use.
  • Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams, including Fair Royalty, Sponsors, Partners, Board, Committees, Artists, 4H, FFA, and Vendors to ensure alignment in all creative efforts. Brainstorm & collaborate with team members & volunteers to support on-site events, including managing media logistics, signage, & vendor & sponsor coordination.
  • Other: Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Passion & Experience: Proven passion & experience in graphic design, social media management, photography, & content creation (portfolio or examples required).
  • Graphic Design: Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) and social media platforms engagement (Instagram, Facebook, etc)
  • Understanding: Strong understanding of social media platforms, particularly YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and the ability to create platform-specific content within them.
  • Project Management Skills: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently, as well as a part of a team.
  • Creative: Creative storytelling and the ability to think outside the box. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Charisma: Ability to visually and audibly lead on & off camera.
  • Seasonal long hours: Ability and desire to work long hours during Fair week, setup, and teardown (approx. 2 weeks in August).
  • Flexibility: Ability to work independently (semi-remote if desired), as well as in office as part of a collaborative team.
  • Event/Agricultural experience/passion: Any experience or passion in the events or agricultural industry is a plus.
  • Photo/Video: Passion & experience in photo/video production & editing, particularly for social media platforms.

  • $40k annual salary with flexible working hours, weekly on-site check-ins.
